As we continue to probe into our Star Performer series, this next person is a true blue Aussie superstar. Let me say first up, Signs & Lines is lucky to have found this gem of a lady! So let’s take a look behind the scenes to reveal how the sign talents of this out and out team player makes the magic happen.

Embracing the talents of many different superstars, our business keeps our approach to signage fresh. With collaboration high on our agenda, each member of our team plays their part in the design, manufacturing, installation and management of signage. Not least our Accounts department.

Every job we do will be handled in some way by our accounts. From the materials that we buy, to the labour that we use, and right through to the income this generates.

In this edition of Star Performers we feature a person is dedicated to managing our finances (and also dedicated to having a good time – see paintballing above & partying below!).

Star Performer #7 – It’s a Numbers Game

Introducing Robyn Kelly – otherwise known as Robbie.

Joining us way back in December 2004, Robyn is one of the ‘originals’. With over 16 years in our Accounts Department, Robyn is truly a swalwart of Signs & Lines. Dependable, loyal, trusty, hard-working, dedicated – really the adjectives go on…

Robyn is one of the few that witnessed first-hand the ‘glamour’ (not!) of our original offices in Elgee Road, Bellevue, when we had a handful of staff and a small workshop ‘out back’. Sitting behind the ‘high quality’ orange formica reception desk that hid a multiple of sins, Robyn will remember well the dusty, cobweb strewn ‘mixed WC’ and the crazy workings of a small sign shop run by two blow-ins from the UK!

Fast forward to today … Robyn still capably manages the daily workings, financial intricacies and major accounts for all our payroll, suppliers and projects – albeit on a somewhat grander scale!

Robyn’s Star Qualities

We asked Robyn what the best piece of advice she was ever given. She replied, “Be good to your Mother’ – offered up by one of our very own Sales Reps. Wise words indeed! We also asked if she considered herself a ‘Young Gun’ or ‘Old Hat’ – or something different. Well, no surprise that the answer was somewhere in the middle. ‘Old Girl’ or ‘Mother’ was the reply – relating very well to Robyn’s capacity for giving, caring and generally keeping us all on the right track.

When questioned about whether she would prefer to be the funniest in the room or the smartest – Robyn chose smartest. Good decision! But do not be confused, as Robyn is an A+ party-goer who will always be cracking a joke, enjoying the gossip and the last to leave a social event. All this aligns well to the cartoon character who Robyn would like to hang out with – Minnie Mouse. In fact, they seem remarkably similar….

Minnie is sweet in nature … fun-loving … and very beautiful.

When Not on the Calculator…

So, Accounts are clearly not Robyn’s only focus. Like Minnie she has a love of the kitchen and it shows. On the subject of cooking Robyn has been a regular winner of our cook-offs with talents ranging from curries to cakes. We also know that she loves to show off her grooves on the dance floor, and is often sore on a Monday after spending all weekend in the garden sorting out the leaves (her hubby has delegated this role to her for many years!).

Finally we asked Robyn for her top 3 bucket list options.

Not surprisingly they involved travel. And whilst the lure of an Asian beach resort is always high on the list it seems that Croatia is the place that tops the list. Doesn’t it look amazing.
