EOFY [End of Financial Year] Celebrations 2025

Celebrating a bumper year this year’s EOFY windup at Signs & Lines/Yap!digital involved A LOT of fun and games. The EOFY event last week featured 7 teams and 7 ‘minute to win it’ style games. A welcome chance to signpost the EOFY. Everyone dressed up in costume – some more enthusiastically than others! Friday 4th July turned out to be a day to remember as we downed-tools and ramped up the fun-factor for some friendly team rivalry.

Pre-event the big questions on everyone’s lips were:-

  • Will the Villains take out the Elves?
  • Will the Cowboys defeat the Mexicans?
  • Just what are the Bogans wearing?
  • Will the Romans live down the cheating accusations?
  • How will the Clowns ever stop being clowns?
  • What penalties will the referee [Josie] be handing out this year?

… keep reading to find out more! And make sure you check out the games in technicolour on video.

Let the Games Begin

The 7 games were selected by our in-house event planner extraordinaire, Richard. They were craftily chosen to match the skills required in our normal sign making profession. Some games focused on dexterity … others on flexibility … and a few designed to test accuracy, attention to detail and patience.

  • ‘Corn Hole’ saw some fantastic teamwork as some team members were beanbag throwers, whilst some were beanbag retrievers. The Romans, under Taylor’s competitive captaincy, nailed this game with 120 points.
  • The ‘Nut Stacker’ proved a game changer with some steady-handed teams, ie. the Elves, Cowboys and Bogans, scoring in the thousands (1320 points was the highest), whilst others struggled with this game big time.
  • ‘Pyramids’ was another game that proved easy for some, and a disaster for others – sadly a last minute pyramid fail by the Elves sealed their fate on this game.
  • ‘Putt Putt’ identified some budding golfers in the team. Mark V was a standout! However it was the Bogans – no doubt making good use of Jay and Robbie’s golfing prowess who had 70 holes in one in 4 minutes!!!!
  • Whilst doing ‘Toilet Rolls’ one of the crafty Mexicans (Mike!) incurred a team penalty for sabotage… points deductions for shaking the ‘Nut Stacker’ table.
MVP’s

Before we announced the team awards, each Team Captain announced the winner of their team’s MVP – Most Valuable Player. Selected on a wide-ranging criteria, well done to the following who clearly knocked it out of the park – Joel, Brandon, Paula, Alex, Mark V, Ish and Adam. The smiles say it all!

Final Tally – Winning Team Award

When all is said and done there could only be one winner of the games event.

In a nail biting finish the Bogans narrowly took out the Romans – both teams showing their highly competitive spirits with only 110 points between the two finishing scores.

Congrats to Bogans Team – Jay (team captain), Craig, Joel, Fabian, Robbie & Kev.  Check out the Bogans on the right….

  • 1st Bogans – 2166 points
  • 2nd Romans – 2056 points
  • 3rd Elves – 1982 points
  • 4th Cowboys – 1888 points
NAGA Award

As in all competitions there is always a last place

[or 7th place in this case!!]

Whilst their points tally may have been low, the Mexicans showed great teamwork and comradery both during the event.

Their spoon dance when awarded the NAGA Award will become legendary!

Check out the wooden spoon celebration!

Best Dressed Team Award

Such a hard award to determine with all teams making supreme efforts. The Bogans sported some handmade ‘Centrelink’ t-shirts, the Clowns added a major dash of colour [and chaos], the Romans sported some impressive sheet togas and the Cowboys really went to town with Stetsons, chaps and neckerchiefs (Alex and Tristan teamed up nicely in a twinning cowboy get-up that wouldn’t have looked out of place on the set of Brokeback Mountain).

In the end it was the Villains who took the ‘Best Dressed Team’ award with a selection of evil costumes depicting Cruella De Vil (AKA Brooke), Jason Voorhees from Halloween (with hammer!) (AKA Brandon, Driller Killer from Slumber Party Massacre 2 (AKA JR) and Darth Vader (AKA Craig).
