SAFE WORK MONTH & WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Safe Work Month Kicks Off – October 2025

Safe Work Month is in full swing at Signs & Lines. Today we recognise World Mental Health Day. This is an important day and a timely reminder of the importance of mental wellbeing and the need to support those facing mental health challenges. Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical safety both in life and in the workplace.

What does that mean for you?

  • Maybe you ask a colleague ‘R U OK?’
  • Perhaps you put aside some time to review the website and search for some wellbeing ideas Home | Mental Health Week?
  • Try to be kind to yourself – at 10am and make a cup of tea and connect with someone special to you (a text message or check-in goes a long way).

However and whatever, take care of you 🙏

More from the S&L Safety Reps

We are very grateful for our S&L Safety Reps who are the eyes & ears of health and safety for everyone. Our S&L Safety Reps meet every 3 months in a formal setting to discuss a range of safety matters. Each area of the workplace is assessed and a checklist completed to assess health and safety across a number of areas.

The S&L Safety Reps team consider new regulations, laws and assess how the company needs to approach OSHE from many angles – such as training, education, site management and compliance. Thanks to Reps Robbie, Kevin, Matt, Mike, Evan, Haedyn and Josie for their diligence and commitment to the role.

In our meeting last Wednesday we covered a range of topics aligned to the key strategic priorities being promoted by Safe Work Month in October 2025.  In particular we discussed how Safety Reps can support staff in psychosocial/mental health. One of our key takeaways was that small supportive gestures can make a big difference. We also took a moment to reflect on the repeat hazard exposure that Signs & Lines faces. In a custom sign manufacturing company every day is different – every job is different. Staff reminders will be included in the SafeTea toolbox scheduled for later in the month. Finally we touched on respiratory hazards in our workplace with dust extraction improvements as a key action point.

Other Initiatives – The S&L Safe Work Month Plan

Here’s what else we’re planning in October – we have a full calendar of safety initiatives!

Final Wrap

Finally a reminder of our safety phrase ….

The Safe Way is the Only Way

This emphasises the importance of safety across many facets of workplace health and safety. It reinforces our commitment to safety, health and wellbeing. Our safety culture is a very important reason to work for Signs & Lines and remains our top priority.
