Safe Work Month 2019 – ‘Think Smart before you Start’

This October is Safe Work Month at Signs & Lines so we will be having a major focus on Safety and our safety slogan ‘Think SMART, before you START’.

Later in the month we’ll be holding a Toolbox meeting and staff Cook-off, with a few training and other safety orientated initiatives planned. We ask all staff and contractors to do their part  – no matter how small – as Safety is our Number 1 priority.

Take 5’s are a key part of our work ethic.  We’ll be reminding everyone in the broader Signs & Lines community and Yap!digital team to take a moment to consider what they do and how they do it…

Is it the safest way?

Are they using the necessary PPE?

Are there simple improvements to their workspace that could manage risks and hazards better?

How can I improve safety?

I must advise the Safety Reps of that in the next Toolbox meeting!

We’ll be looking for a Safety Champion … who is the person that adopts safety, embraces safety and really is passionate about safety in everything that they do? Whilst it‘s hard to single out individuals, we we’d like to recognise this person – this Safety Champion – formally and there will be a gift/prize awarded in recognition of their commitment to safety.  Nominations should be given to Josie by Wed 23rd October and the award will be presented at the Cook-off on Friday 25th. Further news on our winner in due course.

The Safety Reps will be on hand, as always, for help or advice and will be attending some Worksafe OSHE training courses throughout the month.

OUR MOTTO – ‘Think SMART, before you START’

Thanks in advance!
