Navigating a large, multi-level corporate office can often be confusing. However, at EY’s head office in Perth CBD, a thoughtfully executed directional and wayfinding system has completely changed that experience. Delivered in 2025 by the Signs & Lines team, this project showcases how effective directional signage be done well. How effective signage can make even the most complex workplace feel intuitive and easy to navigate.

From design through to manufacture and installation, Signs & Lines created a cohesive system of signage. Signs that supports both staff and visitors as they move through the building. At key arrival points, wayfinding totems provide clear orientation, helping users quickly understand their location and plan where they need to go. These are reinforced by well-placed level directories, offering a simple overview of each floor’s layout.

Level Indicators

Transitioning between levels becomes easy thanks to consistent and highly visible level indicators. Moving between meetings or visiting different departments is simple as users can rely on clear visual cues reducing hesitation and confusion.

Within each floor the detail of the signage becomes even more valuable. Office names and room names are clearly identified. This ensures that people can find their destinations quickly and efficiently. Functional spaces are further enhanced through considered place naming. For example, areas such as the Library, Park (café), and Academy act as memorable wayfinding anchors. These names create natural reference points, making navigation feel more human and less transactional.

Integrated Signage

What sets this project apart is the way the signage integrates into the broader workplace design. It doesn’t just serve a functional purpose –  importantly it enhances the overall environment. Working in harmony with surrounding graphics and finishes the signage creates a cohesive visual language.

A special mention must go to the project management team, who played a critical role in delivering the installation within a live working environment. Coordinating works around daily office operations required careful planning, flexibility, and clear communication. All this whilst ensuring minimal disruption.

The result is a workplace where movement feels effortless. Directional and wayfinding signage is essential in any office space. Why? Because then:-

  • Staff can confidently navigate between levels;
  • Visitors can find their way without stress;
  • The office flow is effortless.

This project highlights how well-executed directional signage, when delivered with expertise and precision, can transform not just a space—but the way people experience it.
