An Oldie But a Goodie – Pylon Signage

It’s often fun to rewind the clock and get a bit nostalgic.

Back in 2010 we made an illuminated pylon sign for The Downs Shopping Centre, in the leafy suburb of Wembley Downs in Perth’s northern beaches.

The double sided illuminated pylon sign was manufactured at 6 metres tall by 1.8 metres wide, with a steel framework and legs clad with 4mm thick di-bond panels. The push through opal acrylic “THE DOWNS” lettering was made with translucent vinyl faces, internal fluros and opal acrylic faces to create a quality illumination.  The IGA and tenant logos were made from fabricated aluminium light boxes with internal fluros and opal acrylic faces with translucent vinyl lettering .

Our first job on site was to remove the old sign. Once the new pylon was made, the sign was installed into concrete footings via cage bolts. The team took 54 hours on site in total (we still have this data on our Signmate job management system!) and 4 of our current team worked on this job in various capacities, including our longest surviving team member, Peter, who was the lead installer.

This sign still looks pretty good today, 9 years after installing it in November 2010… If you’re looking for great signage that lasts, give us a call today on 08 9274 5151 and ask for one of our sales team or email your enquiry to admin@signsandlines.com.
