Whilst we hope that it will never be required, it is comforting to know that our First Aiders have had a refresher CPR course this month – just in case. Ongoing thanks to this group for their commitment to keeping us safe and well. When First Aiders come to the rescue we are well aware that it could be life critical. These sessions matter. Train – refresh – practice – be ready – is our motto when it comes to this important skill.
CPR Refresher Training: Keeping Our Workplace Ready to Respond
At Signs & Lines, safety isn’t just about having the right systems and procedures in place. It’s about making sure our people have the skills and confidence to respond when it really matters.
That’s why regular CPR refresher training is such an important part of our workplace safety program.
CPR is a skill that can make a critical difference in an emergency, but it’s not something we should learn once and assume we’ll remember forever. Skills can fade, confidence can diminish and techniques can change. Getting re-certified every 12 months is a critical part of keeping those skills current and our team prepared.
CPR isn’t easy — and that’s exactly why practice matters
There’s sometimes a misconception that CPR is simply a matter of remembering a few steps. The reality is very different.
Performing effective CPR requires physical effort, concentration and exertion. Chest compressions need to be performed with sufficient depth and consistency, often for an extended period of time. In a real emergency, particularly before emergency services arrive, the physical demands can be significant.
Our refresher training gives staff the opportunity to practice those skills in a controlled environment. This includes chest compressions, rescue breaths, using an AED and responding appropriately as part of an emergency response.
Just as importantly, regular training helps build muscle memory and confidence. When an emergency happens, there isn’t time to stop and think through what you learned months or years ago. The goal is to have the knowledge and familiar practical skills so that you can respond quickly and calmly.
A Workplace skill that could Save a Life
CPR training forms part of a broader commitment to creating a safer workplace — but ultimately, it’s about people looking after people. You never know when those skills might be needed. An emergency could happen at work, at home, on a job site, at the gym or somewhere completely unexpected. Being trained means you can potentially be the person who steps forward when someone needs help.
Thank You to our Team
A big thank you to our Signs & Lines team members who continue to participate in CPR refresher training and support our ongoing commitment to workplace safety. Taking the time to refresh these skills every 12 months is an investment in yourself, your colleagues and the wider community.
Because when it comes to CPR, being prepared is far better than wishing you were. Train – refresh – practice – be ready.
