Premier Talks to Shaun from Signs & Lines – new Metronet deal

Mega thrilled and proud that this week our Cert III Metal Fabrication apprentice, Shaun, got to rub shoulders with the Premier, Mark McGowen, Bill Shorten and Michelle Roberts, MLA Member for Midland, at Midland TAFE. There was a major announcement about Metronet and Shaun had a long chat with the Premier about all sorts, including his work at TAFE.

Feedback from the TAFE course lecturers, Stuart Graves, couldn’t have been better.  In his words, “He had the longest conversation with the Premier so stay tuned to the various local news channels this evening.  Safe to say he handled himself very well :)”

For the full wrap, visit the TAFE’s Facebook page here.

The Premier’s announcement that the Midland campus will be transformed into a specialist METRONET Trade Training Centre in 2020 is an exciting one for us as a local business that hopes to be involved in the signage for Metronet. The facility will equip local workers to build the next generation of METRONET railcars. Minister for Education and Training Hon. Sue Ellery said that North Metropolitan TAFE’s Midland campus is well placed to train WA workers.

“Midland TAFE is well placed to train WA workers for futures in railcar manufacturing, with course options available to meet the diverse METRONET training needs, including engineering, metal fabrication, instrumentation and electrotechnology,” said Hon. Sue Ellery.

Well done Shaun – you did good!
