A workplace should do more than simply function in the 21st century.  It should inspire, reflect identity, and create meaningful experiences for the people who move through it every day. That philosophy was at the heart of a recent fit-out for EY’s head office in Perth’s CBD.  A layered approach to environmental graphics transformed a corporate interior into a vibrant, culturally resonant space. The Signs & Lines team excelled in their delivery of this standout project. A true graphics transformation!

Project Goal

From the outset the goal was clear. The graphics were designed to move the space beyond a conventional office aesthetic and deliver an environment that felt dynamic, purposeful and distinct. A space that also connected to both brand and place. This was achieved through a

combination of privacy treatments, large-scale printed graphics and custom vinyl applications.  Each element critical in playing a unique role in shaping the overall experience.

Privacy Banding

An impactful feature of the project was the use of privacy banding across glass offices and meeting rooms. In modern workplaces, transparency and openness are highly valued, but they must be balanced with the need for discretion. The banding solution provided that balance. It introduced visual interest while subtly defining spaces, ensuring privacy without compromising natural light or the sense of connectivity across the floor.

Large Format Digital Print

The large-format digitally printed graphics were inspired by Indigenous art. These installations brought added depth to the environment, transforming walls, corridors and staircases into storytelling platforms. Rather than serving as mere decoration, the artwork created a strong sense of place. Importantly this served to acknowledge cultural heritage and reinforcing EY’s respect for community.

Positioned thoughtfully throughout the office, these pieces invite moments of pause and reflection, enriching the day-to-day experience of staff and visitors alike.

High-traffic areas were further enhanced through custom vinyl installations designed to energise transitional spaces. Spaces included in the graphics transformation included:-

  • Corridors;
  • Staircases;
  • Breakout zones;
  • Cafes;
  • Shared pathways.

The graphics helped maintain visual continuity across the workplace, ensuring that the design language remained consistent and immersive from one zone to the next.

What sets this project apart is the way each element works together to form a cohesive whole. The privacy treatments, artistic graphics, and vinyl applications are not standalone features—they are interconnected components of a broader design narrative. Every surface was considered, every detail intentional. The result is an environment that feels curated rather than constructed, where functionality and creativity exist in perfect balance.

Importantly, the transformation goes beyond aesthetics.

By embedding cultural storytelling and thoughtful design into the workspace, the fit-out enhances how people interact with their surroundings. It does this in three key ways:-

  • It fosters a sense of belonging
  • It encourages engagement
  • It supports a positive and productive workplace culture.
Final Wrap

This project is a strong example of how environmental graphics can elevate an office from ordinary to extraordinary. It demonstrates that when design is approached with creativity and purpose, workplaces can grow an identity.

So in a world where the expectations of office environments are constantly evolving, this fit-out sets a new benchmark. Importantly it proves that every surface holds potential—and when that potential is realised, the impact is both immediate and lasting.
